Our Mission is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to the homeless and needy in East Texas communities, while providing food, clothing, shelter, and other basic life necessities, as well as providing a one-year residential discipleship/recovery program.
Our Vision is to be the homeless ministry of choice by helping the homeless and feeding the hungry in our communities of Tyler and East Texas.
 Rev. H. Tony Chung, MBA, President
Born in California, Tony was the second youngest of eight children. In the 70’s he began training thoroughbred race horses. As a trainer, he traveled the track circuit, including the Louisiana Downs.
In 1988, Tony enrolled at Grace College of the Bible in Omaha where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Bible/Rescue Ministry. While at Grace, he worked as an evening chaplain at Open Door Mission.
In 1992, Chung accepted the position of Program Director at the Springfield Rescue Mission in Massachusetts. He also served as Senior Chaplain at the Seattle Union Gospel Mission while earning his MBA, and as President/CEO at the Boise Rescue Mission in Idaho.
Tony began serving as Executive Director of Hiway 80 Rescue Mission Ministries on October 1, 2002. During that time, he implemented a one year residential discipleship/recovery program, increased emergency shelter from sleeping 21 men to 120 men a night, as well as increasing the women’s shelter from sheltering 5 to 6 women a night up to 50 women and children nightly.
With 20 years of experience in working with the homeless, Tony assumed the role of President of East Texas Rescue Mission of Tyler in 2008. It is his goal to help the homeless in Tyler and surrounding areas, helping them to break the cycle of homelessness.
Tony and his wife, Donna, have worked together in rescue ministry for the past 20 years. She has been involved in Prison Ministry, and has been an Office Manager/Accounting in Boise and Longview for the last 11 years. They have two children, Katie and Jonathan.
